Spectrum Suite / Gallery 4
The Spectrum Suite Series began several years ago and has grown into three movements over a period of time. Although each movement is separate and distinctive, they all share my original concept of a desire to explore the basic elements of art: color, form, light and texture. In the First Movement I used a combination of warm and strong colored filtered lights to bring out the sculptural design of the solid stone formations. For the Second Movement I shifted to the free flowing forms of found eucalyptus bark. I used two contrasting color lighting gels to expose 4x5 color film to bring out the natural textures and forms of the bark. In the Third Movement I shifted my tools and techniques entirely to digital. These wonderful abstractions of color, form, light and texture begin with a scan of slate tile surfaces. The transformation to the final image is the result of much digital coaxing in Photoshop. All Spectrum Suite photographs are available in various sizes and limited to an edition of twenty-five.
